Vocal Exercises

Below are vocal exercises for you to use at your discretion. These are very basic exercises to help you with specific tasks. An example would be: “A beginnning warm up to wake up the cords and balance the voice.”

Please note: These exercises are in no way a replacement for live vocal training and should be used under the guidance of a qualified vocal instructor.
They are intended to be a mobile tool to allow the singer to practice what they already know to be the appropriate exercise addressing specific vocal needs.

VE-OH for flexiblity and control

This exercise will create flexibility and control in the voice.

VE-The “ONE”

Use this exercise as a prep for the open vowel exercises. This allows for more air flow while keeping the cords connected.

Use the “NG” to develope power with a very quiet exercise.

A very gentle exercise to connect and warm up the cords.

VE-Sliding “Aw”

This exercise helps to blend registers with the vowel sound from the sound “Aw.”

VE-Sliding Ant

This exercise helps to blend registers with the vowel sound from the word “Ant.”

VE-Sliding Uhh

This exercise helps with blending the registers using the Uhh sound.

VE-Sliding Eed

This exercise helps to blend registers while practicing the vowel used in “Eed.”

VE-Sliding Egg

This exercise helps to blend registers while practicing the vowel used in the word “Egg.”

VE-Oooo Descending

An exercise that greatly lightens the load and makes it easier to approach the tone from the top instead of from the bottom with much weight. An exercise that starts in falsetto and changes into mixed or chest voice where comfortable to do so.

VE-The “WAH”

A vocal exercise that completely relaxes the voice!

VE-Oooo and Connect

Connecting your registers with the Oooo sound.

VE-AH and Connect

Use this exercise to begin connecting your registers with the AH sound.

VE-EEE and Connect

These exercises are great for connecting your voice through the registers. This especially helps to move towards a headier sound as you move higher in your registers. Make sure you open your mouth vertically instead of horizontally.
